Why not kick off 2014 by learning something new? You’ll be amazed at how many incredible free MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) are being launched this month by the world’s elite Universities. If you have ever wanted to take a course from Harvard, Stanford or Columbia University then now is your chance!
As I’ve mentioned before in my Ultimate Guide to MOOCs, the mission of Universities in the 21st century is to leverage the power of the Internet to make a higher education available to everyone. With the price of tuition skyrocketing, there is a big push underway to expand the reach and accessibility of higher education through the Internet.
In this guide, you will find free online courses to expand your mind and develop new skills in computer science, design, data science and analytics, digital marketing, the new sustainable economy, DIY hardware, entrepreneurship and business skills, 21st century education and an assortment of other interesting subjects.
Nearly all of the courses listed are accessible to people beginning in each of these subject areas (with the exception of a few of the Computer Science courses). Each course is structured like any University course with a beginning/end date, assignments and tests. Typically, these course require about 3-5 hours of your time per week, although the complex technical courses may require 10 hours a week or more.
