We all have our ups and downs. Sometimes it's logical to wake up feeling like shit, wondering what we should do with our lives. You just need to understand that it's impossible to solve all of your problems in one day. It's most possible that a lifetime is not enough to fix everything that's broken. However, you can make your shitty day better by following 10 simple steps:
1) Have a drink of water.
Drinking a lot of water is the best way to clear your mind by hydrating your body. Especially when you feel bad, you shouldn't be dehydrated. Your body needs a huge glass of water - not juice, soda or alcohol.
2) Take a shower.
Your day starts with a different feeling when you’re clean! And it can also offer you a burst of energy if you’re feeling lethargic. Wash your hair and give yourself a head massage.
3) Make your bed.
Making your bed reminds you that you should get out of bed early. It helps you wake up and start your day with energy. Don't leave it untidy - it will only cause you stress.
4) Take a walk.
You probably are in need of some fresh air and you don't even know it. Offer your body some natural light, breathe some different air, move your legs a little, even if it’s for just five minutes. Let yourself think something different from all those bad thoughts that make you feel bad.
5) Eat something.
And by "something", I certainly don't mean junk food. Junk food, else called comfort food, won't give you any comfort at all. You need a healthy nutrition, because that will make you feel better - and healthier - too!
6) Change your environment.
Staring at the same four walls day after day can be drudging. Could you work from a cafe, a library, or even a friend’s house? If you can add going somewhere to the list of things you did today, you may feel more accomplished. Otherwise, you can try changing the decoration in your house or office - whatever annoys you!
7) Dance to an upbeat guilty pleasure song.
Music is the best cure for anything. Listening to your favourite music or even dancing to it can really cheer you up. Just don't pick any sad song. It's better to listen to something cheerful. You'll be amazed by the results.
8) Accomplish something.
Accomplish something today, even if it's not something huge. I know that, like most of us, you have a lot of tasks that you're bored to accomplish, but even a tiny bit of them could make you happier. If you can’t get to the big stuff on your list, focus on the small stuff, and don’t forget to congratulate yourself for getting something done. As mentioned before, you can't solve all of your problems in one day.
9) Don't waste all of your day in front of your PC.
You might think it's relaxing to scroll down in Facebook's news feed or to play your favourite PC game. It actually causes a lot of stress and makes you feel useless. There are so many other better things to do, even if you stay at home. Technology is not everything. Exercising, reading a book, spending time with your family/roomates/pets... All those can make you feel better than your PC could.
10) Give yourself permission to feel shitty.
You’re allowed to have a bad day, and you don’t have to fix it all right now. If you try to fix it and it doesn’t work, that doesn’t mean it’s hopeless. Give yourself the time and space you need to feel what you’re feeling. You need to fall down sometimes, to move on later.
