Concealed anxiety can cause a lot of pressure, anger and devastation. Knowing how to deal with your emotions can help you breathe. People with concealed anxiety will recognize the following symptoms:
1) They often find it difficult to enjoy their lives.
People with concealed anxiety haven't learnt how to live their life at its fullest. That's because they are always concerned with minor problems that don't really matter, but they seem like evil giants in those people's minds. What they need to understand is that life's too short to worry about every single detail. We need to enjoy everyday moments before they're gone, because one thing's sure: we'll regret it if we don't.
2) They are always late.
People who haven't faced their anxiety yet, but, still, it's somewhere, hidden inside them, have also a big problem with time. They think that they are relaxed, but they end up being late every single time. They just find it really difficult to prepare themselves. Sometimes, that's because they're even scared of going out of their house!
3) They want to plan every single detail.
There's another category of people with concealed anxiety: the planners. Of course, not all of them are like that or at least they just don't like showing it. The thing is that people who want to plan every single detail are always stressed about their everyday life. They just can't be spontaneous for once!
4) They are not that good in relationships.
Anxiety means insecurity. People with insecurities have troubles loving and trusting somebody. They find it hard to communicate with a person whom they don't know well, so they need time and patience until they agree to commit to a romantic relationship.
5) They are easily bored.
Since they're used to having a life full of activities and duties, people with concealed anxiety can't really enjoy their holidays. They suddenly freak out realizing how much free time they have to spend. Seriously, they don't know what to do with their free time. So they start planning new things again and again.
6) They don't like going to parties.
They arrive, certain that everyone is judging and evaluating them, and find an excuse to leave early or, unable to do that, they find a corner where they can be by themselves. If they are introduced to someone, they cannot find the words to strike up a conversation with that person and if she/he attempts to, they respond with one-word or short phrase answers. That person soon leaves for more interesting conversation elsewhere, and they feel left out and shunned. That describes social anxiety.
7) They also face physical discomfort or pain because of anxiety.
Anxiety may be in our head, but it affects our body in so many ways. The tightness in our chest, the tenseness in our shoulders, the sick feeling in our stomach, the sensation of being uncomfortable in our own skin are some examples. If you do suffer from physical pain because of anxiety, then you should visit a doctor or a psychologist. Your health is precious, so you need to be careful - and less anxious.
8) They have trouble making decisions.
Anxious people can't decide about anything. They find it really difficult to make up their mind. The more serious a decision is, the harder it is for them to decide! That's because, as mentioned before, they're not spontaneous. On the contrary, they like examining all the possible reasons why they should choose doing one thing or another.
9) They are afraid of things that seem simple.
For someone who suffers from an anxiety disorder, fear definitely has a different meaning. Everyone is afraid sometimes and on certain occasions, it’s only natural to feel this way; for example, if you have to make a big speech or if you have to take an important exam. Well, for someone who suffers from a panic disorder, these day-by-day challenges can be pretty overwhelming and exhausting.
10) They freak out when they do something embarrassing.
Okay, nobody likes doing something embarrassing in public, but for anxious people, the very idea of doing something embarrassing in public is just debilitating. Not eating in public for fear they’ ll look weird or spill food down themselves, or becoming convinced they’re somehow going to trip and fall, and everyone in the vicinity will point, laugh and/or judge in some combination.
11) They only feel safe at home.
For some they simply cannot feel safe unless they are at home. Many have lost their jobs and relationships because they simply can’t leave the house. This can turn into debilitating agoraphobia and should be treated immediately.
12) They become more worried when they hear the phrase "calm down".
The last thing that will calm down an anxious person is telling them “calm down.” In fact, it may make the situation worse. Trying to calm oneself during the middle of an anxiety attack can actually increase the original emotional response in the moment. So, instead of encouraging someone with anxiety to calm down, it's better to offer support that shows understanding.
