Mother Nature be crazy. She makes awkward animals, weird weather, and some straight up loco locations. (See what we did there? That's alliteration, baby!) So sit back and check out these pictures that show nature at its most bizarre. And rest easy knowing you probably don't have to deal with this stuff — unless you're in Australia. Mother Nature loves messing with those guys.

1. Purple Cactus
If you live in the American Southwest, you've probably seen a purple cactus or two. For the rest of us, this just ain't right. Cacti are supposed to be green! This plant is also known as the purple prickly pear.

2. Corpse Flower
This plant takes years to bloom — but its flower only lasts for a few days. Don't worry, though, it's totally worth the wait. Because when it finally does flower, it gives off a smell similar to that of a rotting body. Now you know how it got its name. Ugh.

3. Frost Flowers
Frost flowers "grow" from imperfections in ice, and when the air is extremely cold. Like -22°C cold. Not only do they look amazing, but they also harbor microscopic life. So they're basically tiny (but temporary) ecosystems!

4. The Crabs of Christmas Island
Wanna see some crabs? Head to Christmas Island off the west coast of Australia. They have an estimated 40–50 million of them. And if you really want to see something magical, go during the wet season in October and November for their annual migration, when they all up and leave the forest to release their eggs into the sea.

5. Blobfish
This guy was crowned the "World's Ugliest Animal" in 2013. The weird thing hanging out of its mouth? A yellow parasite. Sorry if we ruined your breakfast.

6. Crazy Clouds
The picture on the left shows a Kelvin Helmholtz cloud, but we're just gonna call it a wavy cloud. It's thought that this type of cloud inspired Van Gogh's famous Starry Night painting. On the right are lenticular clouds, otherwise known as a UFO clouds — for obvious reasons.

7. Even Crazier Clouds
On the left: this picture of bubble-like mammatus clouds was taken in Saskatchewan, Canada. Yeah, if you guys could keep them up there, that'd be great. On the right: asperatus clouds over New Zealand. This cloud formation will officially be added to the International Cloud Atlas of the World Meteorological Organization as "asperitas" in 2017, but we're gonna call them "end-of-the-world-nope clouds."

8. Star-Nosed Mole
We bet this guy was a runner-up for that Ugliest Animal award. They mostly live in the eastern US and Canada, but since they dig tunnels underground and even under bodies of water, you'll rarely see them. And we think that's a good thing.

9. Cappuccino Coast
Ever wanted to know what a chocolate sprinkle feels like as it sits atop your Starbucks drink? Make your way to the shoreline north of Sydney, Australia — otherwise known as the "Cappuccino Coast." The phenomenon doesn't happen very often, but when the right mixture of ocean salt, chemicals, dead plants, and decomposing fish come together, this is what you get.

10. Rainbow Mountains
China's Rainbow Mountains might look photoshopped, but they are 100% real. This is what happens when different colored minerals and sandstone are pressed together over 24 million years. Is it wrong to want to eat them? Because they kind of look like candy to us.

11. Unicorn Deer
Sometimes mutations in animals can be saddening. And other times they can be super holy-wow-amazeballs — like this wicked-awesome deer with a unicorn-style antler!

12. Blue Lava
Nature's been messing with colors again. We thought all lava was red — at least that's what we all imagine when we play the floor-is-hot-lava game here at the office. Well, it turns out we're sort of right. The lava from this Indonesian volcano isn't blue, but the burning sulfuric gases are. Either way, we're still not touching the floor.

13. The Cucumber-Zucchini Conundrum
Sometimes Mother Nature doesn't have to mess with us. Sometimes we do it to ourselves.
