1. They Make You Feel Like Everything Is Your Fault.

Instead of focusing on the actual problem, they try to you feel as though the fight was only your fault. The reason is that emotional psychopaths have no accountability, so they think that nothing is ever their own fault.

When an abuser changes, twists, or makes up information with the intention of causing somebody to doubt their own memory and sanity, that's called gaslighting. It’s also a popular tactic emotional psychopaths use to manipulate you. Even if you have proofs that what they say or do is wrong, they'll try to find a way to make you feel bad for accusing them by calling you mean, selfish, crazy, or a liar.

3. They Make You Feel Like You're Ruining Their Life

Emotional psychopaths tend to blame others for all of their life problems. Are they doing poorly at work? Well, that’s probably your fault because you stress them out at home. Did they get in a fight with a friend? Well, you made them so angry they got all heated up. Are they unhappy in your relationship? It’s obviously because you are such a horrible partner. Of course, they don't want you to control the way you think, because then you may realize that you deserve so much better! If they can pound into your mind just how ugly/useless/crazy/pathetic/stupid you are, you’ll begin to believe it and cling more tightly to them because you falsely think that's the best you can do. Once you lose your self-esteem, emotional psychopaths can really make you believe anything they want.

5. They Isolate You.

Emotional psychopaths will discourage or even prevent you from seeing your friends because your friends are the ones who could actually convince you to break up. An emotional psychopath knows that they're bad for you, deep down, so they won't tolerate your friends letting you know too! Instead, an emotional psychopath will turn you against your friends by convincing you that they don't really understand how much he/she loves you. Even worse, he/she will try to convince you that since you have him/her, you don't need any friends!

6) They Emotionally Blackmail You.

To get you do what he/she wants, an emotional psychopath will even try to threaten you. Emotional blackmail is a common tactic of people who truly don't care about your feelings. If the person you're dating reaches this point of psychological abuse, then you should leave them as soon as possible.
