According to statistics, since 1998 approximately 712 children in the US only are estimated to have died from heatstroke after being left inside hot cars. However, tragic deaths like these could soon be preventable, thanks to one intelligent 10-year-old boy called Bishop Curry from McKinney, Texas.
The fifth-grader invented the Oasis, a genius little gadget that monitors the car temperature. Once it reaches a certain level, the device emits cool air while at the same time it alerts parents and authorities via an antenna. Bishop's idea for the Oasis came after he learned that his neighbor’s 6-month-old infant died while being inside an overheated car. Even though he only has a 3-D clay model of his device at the moment, Bishop and his father have so far succeeded to raise more than $24,000 for this invention on GoFundMe. The money will be spent on manufacturing the device and also on securing the patent for it. This means that if you haven’t already done so, then visit their fundraising page and help them bring this genius project to life.
