Nine years ago, Alexander Khimushin decided to pack his backpack to see the world. Now he can proudly say that he has visited 84 countries! While traveling the world, he realized that people are the most wonderful part of it.
Three years ago he came up with an idea of a photo project called 'The World In Faces'. This project would celebrate beauty and diversity of the Earth through the portraits of ordinary people. Especially from remote places, where culture and traditions have survived. Since then he has taken thousands of portraits from people all over the world. Last six months he photographed indigenous people of Siberia.
Siberia is an enormous region, almost two times as Australia and 30% larger than the US, Canada or the whole Europe. It's one of the globe’s last frontiers of the unknown. Undoubtedly, everyone has heard that Siberia is very cold and sparsely populated, but do you know anything about people living there?
During Alexander's half-a-year-long solo journey, he covered 25,000 km to visit lots of remote locations across Siberia: the coast of Japan sea, the steppes of Mongolia, and, even the cold Yakutia. His only mission now was to capture faces and traditions of indigenous people living there.
Take a look at his breathtaking pictures and vote for your favorite!
