For most people, the New Year means new resolutions, new hobbies, new friends, new goals, but for a couple from a town in California, this new year meant two new babies!
Is there a better way to end your year and begin a new one than holding up your newborn twins - one in each arm? Maria Ontiveros, a farm laborer from Earlimart in California, was due to deliver her twins on January 27th but was in for a surprise early in 2018. She went into labor prematurely on New Year's Eve at 7 in the morning, and it took all of 4 to 5 hours to bring her twins, who could not wait to see the world, along with the new year.

Maria is going to have a difficult time getting away with one birthday celebration as, her first twin Joaquin Ontiveros, was born at 11.58pm on December 31st, 2017 while Aitana, Joaquin's younger sister arrived a bit later, at 12.16am on January 1st, 2018.
The new mother might say that her babies were born only 20 minutes apart, but they, as twins, will always win saying the opposite: that they were born in different days, months and years as well! They may share everything from genes and facial features to sleep times, but they won't share their birthdays, nor their birthday years!
Local communities decided to donate $3,000 worth of baby supplies to the couple - both farm laborers - to celebrate the uniqueness of the twins' time of birth.

While most of the world was clinking glasses and sharing kisses to celebrate the new year, California's Delano Regional Medical Center's labor and delivery care team helped Maria deliver her babies.
Doctors claim the girl was slightly breached, so she needed to be delivered via cesarean section. The medical center has stated that Joaquin was the last baby to be born in Kern County in 2017, while his younger sister Aitana was the first baby born there in 2018.
The mother was well-acquainted with the drill as she and her husband have already had three other daughters together. Maria and her twins were declared healthy and ready to go home the very next day, which made way for celebrations due in Earlimart, a tiny town located between Fresno and Santa Barbara.
Look at these beautiful babies! This set of twins was born in Delano last night. Big brother was born in 2017. Little sister was born in 2018! Congrats to the parents! 👶🏻👶🏻

The birth of these twins was a surprise because such a case has only been witnessed in the United States 12 months ago when pairs of twins were born in Georgia, Utah, Arizona and San Diego in California. One year before this, San Diego was the only city to witness a similar case of twins born in different years. Here are several other instances in the recent past.
The first baby of 2017 at the hospital was Everett Jackson shay. His twin brother Sawyer was the last one of 2016. https://t.co/yixeFu06OP

The babies have now turned one year old. The fraternal twins were born on two different dates (and years) at Banner Thunderbird in Glendale. Sawyer arrived late on New Year's Eve in 2016, eleven minutes before his younger brother was born at 12:01 a.m. and became Banner Health's first baby for 2017.
Nice blog.
