We live in a fantastic time in which it’s possible to shoot photos like the following: it is a Tesla Roadster sports car that's flying through space with the Earth in the background.
One week ago, Billionaire Elon Musk’s SpaceX launched the Falcon Heavy rocket, the most powerful operational rocket in the world. Musk’s original “midnight cherry” Tesla Roadster was attached to the top of the rocket with a dummy called STARMAN sitting inside.
After it was successfully launched and reached space, the picture above was one of the still frames that were captured by the multiple onboard cameras.

There is even a live camera feed of the Tesla’s journey:
“It is hoped the car will be thrown into an elliptical orbit that stretches out to Mars’ orbit around the Sun,” SPACE & UNIVERSE writes. “The car will take at least six months to travel the 200 million miles to Mars.”
The car will be playing David Bowie's song “Space Oddity” on repeat as it continues on the billion-year elliptic Mars orbit.
Tesla has an advertising budget of $0.
It seems the Roadster overshot its intended Mars orbit and is instead headed towards the asteroid belt:

That's the last photo of the Tesla Roadster which was launched into space last week. It demonstrates the dummy called Starman leaving Earth in the rearview mirror while it hurtles towards Mars’ orbit and later onto the Asteroid Belt.
The picture was shared by billionaire Elon Musk on Instagram and by SpaceX on Flickr. As you may remember, SpaceX started to publish all of its Flickr pictures to the public domain in March 2015, which led to Flickr adding a public domain designation only a few days later.
This image is the last in a series of jaw-dropping photographs of the Tesla in space with Earth in the background. In case you missed them:
The Roadster was strapped to the SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket on this first test flight as the mass simulator. According to Musk, using concrete or steel blocks for the weight, would've been “extremely boring.” The car and dummy are now on an elliptical orbit around the Sun that might last “a billion years.”
