What would our world be like if the roles of animals and humans were reversed? This creative campaign called “Happy Farms” explores a world where farm animals treat us, humans, the way we treat them.
Why are animals so different from human beings? Aren't humans also animals at a different stage of evolution? And why do many feel it is ok for our species to subject much of the animals to a torturous existence?
These are some of the questions German artist Barbara Daniels asks. The powerful image she draws, depicts the roles of humans and factory farmed animals reversed.
“Imagine our modern society with the roles of humans and animals reversed. What would it look like? How would it feel to be dominated by another species? My current artwork strives to answer these questions, drawing inspiration from real-world situations and events,” Barbara says on her website Barbara Daniels Art.
The artist launched a satirical campaign called “Happy Farms”, a company “specializing in a variety of human products advertised as fresh and naturally grown.” That campaign reverses the roles of humans and chickens, depicting an “ethical” slaughtering of human beings for consumption.
It seems that the project to raise awareness of animal rights is now working with a sharp increase in people who follow a vegan or vegetarian diet. A recent report from Global Data shows that there has been a 600% increase in veganism in the last three years alone, with 6% of Americans now identifying as vegan.
