Barbie dolls have been introducing young girls to beauty and the latest fashion trends for 58 years. However, the company has recently decided to switch things up. To understand what our society needs, the company surveyed 8,000 mothers. It discovered that 86% of them were worried about the role models to which their daughters are exposed. Therefore, the company decided to create 17 dolls of inspiring, realistic-looking women.
Every “Inspiring Women” doll comes along with educational information concerning the way each woman shaped and influenced society. The lineup includes both historical and modern-day figures. Among them can be found Amelia Earhart, the first woman who flew across the Atlantic Ocean as well as Frida Kahlo, the famous Mexican artist and activist. Even though the series consists of only three dolls so far, the lineup is scheduled to grow with the release of several new ones, as a spokeswoman for Mattel said.
Barbie has also made some new additions to its Shero program, which started in 2015. The initiative has already honored history-making women such as Ibtihaj Muhammad, Ava DuVernay, Eva Chen, Ashley Graham, and Misty Copeland. Now, it is celebrating even more modern-day figures, like world-renowned chef Hélène Darroze, gold-winning Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim, and others.
Fashion depends mainly on what kinds of clothes are applicable to be worn to certain places and occasions. hotfix rhinestones
