For many people, listening to music is a daily part of their life. That's why they use earphones when they're walking, using public transport, or even at the gym. However, what can happen when you're wearing earphones for too long?
Ears are a sensitive part of our body. Even the slightest scratch on our eardrum can cause damage. Therefore, it's essential that we do everything in our power to protect them. This includes limiting the amount of time we keep our headphones in our ears.
During an episode of The Doctors, a group of medical experts discussed in-ear blackheads. They concluded that wearing earphones for too long can cause blackheads in the ears. Blackheads are extremely annoying. They are visible, like pimples, but they're a dark color, which makes them even uglier to look at. You have likely experienced them on your face, back, and chest. But have you ever had them in your ears?
According to the American Academy of Dermatology, around 50 million Americans have blackheads and acne. Like most of the body areas that have blackheads, the ears also have the same glands. Those release natural oil into the hair follicles.
Therefore, if you are wearing headphones for too long, how can you prevent blackheads from forming in your ears? The apparent answer is not to wear your earphones for too long, right? But you can also do some other things. First, check the earbuds and search for any dirt or dust and wash it out when you find some ( if there is any). One of the reasons why we have blackheads is by excess dirt and grime. When we wash them, we need to use gentle soap and water cleaner. Don't use any soap or water cleaner that could irritate and damage your ears.
Also, use cloth for cleaning your earbuds. Most earphones aren't waterproof so you can't just soak them in soap or water cleaner. If you do, you’ll possibly damage the wiring, and you could potentially shock your ears in the case that you use them too soon afterward.

Eww~ That's gross! Thank you for sharing! Can't let myself have this. I will use earphones less, and lower the volume.
