A palm oil supplier to Mars, PepsiCo, Nestlé, and Unilever is currently destroying rainforests in Papua New Guinea and Indonesia, according to a new investigation by Greenpeace International. Satellite analysis suggests that about 4,000 hectares of rainforest were cleared in the PT Megakarya Jaya Raya concessions during May 2015 and April 2017. That's a region almost half the size of Paris.
Pictures and video (below) captured in March and April 2018 depict massive deforestation in PT MJR, a palm oil concession controlled by the Hayel Saeed Anam Group (HSA), including in an area zoned for protection by the Indonesian government in response to the devastating forest fires in 2015. Development is prohibited in those areas. The footage was released soon after Greenpeace International revealed that these leading global brands are faltering in their publicized commitments to hault deforestation from their supply chains by the year 2020.
Even though PT MJR isn't yet producing palm oil, two other HSA subsidiary companies—Arma Group and Pacific Oils & Fats—supplied palm oil to Mars, Nestlé, PepsiCo and Unilever, according to supply chain information released by the brands earlier in 2018. Each of these consumer companies has published a “no deforestation, no peat, no exploitation” policy which should prohibit sourcing from rainforest destroyers.
“Brands have been talking about cleaning up their palm oil for over a decade. Companies like Unilever and Nestlé claim to be industry leaders. So why are they still buying from forest destroyers like the HSA group? What are their customers supposed to think? What will it take to get them to act?” said Richard George, forest campaigner at Greenpeace UK.
The case also poses serious questions for the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). Many HSA Group palm oil companies are members of the RSPO, though PT MJR and the other HSA Group concessions in the district are not. Members of the RSPO aren't allowed to have unaffiliated palm oil divisions, while the development witnessed in PT MJR would also violate several of the RSPO’s Principles and Criteria.

What a complete jerk he became after cheating on me on several occasion, his betrayal brought out the worst fear in me to reality. Insecurities almost tore me apart as I asked him if his mistress has bigger butt or breast? If she is machine in bed? If she smells better? If he prefers brunette or blonde? I was going insane.
ReplyDeleteA lot of unanswered question forced him to leave, he moved in with her for three months. Three months made me realize how good he was before my temper caused him to looking outside. I also realized it is not good for our children to have a broken home. So I needed him back and also someone or something that can transform me into a better wife and mother.
Under the mountain of frustration and betrayal comes Dr. Wakina by dr.wakinalovetemple@gmail.com with the much anticipated help that did not only bring back my husband as a changed man, but made me superior over my disabilities.
I am glad I picked faith over fear (through Dr. Wakina) which could have ruined my marriage. We are deeply in love again.
oh, forest clearing has a very serious impact on the environment, it makes the pollution, water shortage and the greenhouse effect bigger, join hands to protect the forest.
