Eating Pizza Helps With Weight Loss, According To Study

Good news! Eating pizza could help you make you lose weight—so get ready to eat a nice hot one delivered in approximately 45 minutes. I know exactly what I’m having for dinner tonight!

Of course, it’s not like pizza has suddenly become better for you to eat than, let's say, a salad.

However, a recent study proved that people who allowed themselves a day of indulgence while they were dieting were more likely to keep up their diets long term.

How It Works:

According to Men’s Health, the study showed that after two weeks of dieting, the participants that had eaten whatever they wanted on Sundays were more motivated to stick to their diet plan throughout the week.

This indicates that a little indulgence never hurt anyone. Plus, it gives you something good to look forward to throughout the week, while dropping pounds.

The idea of designating a particular day for your favorite not-so-healthy foods is extremely important.

“The key is to plan and designate a specific day for your rule-breaking,” study author Rita Coelho do Vale, Ph.D. told Men’s Health. “That’s because giving in to a spur-of-the-moment donut can make you feel like you blew your diet—and might as well abandon it completely.”

There’s no denying that keeping a healthy lifestyle is still going to take discipline and determination. However, looking on the good side there is light at the end of the tunnel, as you have always got that piece of hot stuff coming for you at the end of the week!

One NYC chef took that to the extreme and began eating only pizza for lunch every day. The result was incredible: He lost more than 100 pounds. Nevertheless, Chef Cozzolino said that one couldn't eat an extra large, cheese, sausage and bacon pepperoni every day.

What he did was use fresh ingredients, to control the sodium, fat, and carbs on his pizza. Each day, he made a simple (but delicious) Margherita pizza for lunch.

“My pizza is something that comes from the Mediterranean diet,” he says in the video below.

With natural ingredients, the pizza he makes is about 570 calories. The crust includes only four ingredients: yeast, sea salt, water, and flour. As he doesn’t snack on carbs or other indulgences in the evening, the chef says that he was able to achieve his weight-loss objective and has now much more energy to play with his son.

If you’re going to try the pizza diet, then you will probably like to know the most ideal way to reheat a slice of cold pizza.

Even if you don’t mind cold pizza, I believe it’s safe to say that warm, fresh pizza is much better than leftover cold pizza. Although the microwave is a quick solution, it leaves your pizza soggy and disappointing. The oven is a bit better, but it's still not quite the same as eating it fresh. Not to mention it can take up to 20 minutes to reheat.

So, what’s the most ideal way to heat back up a slice of refrigerated pizza? In fact, it’s not the microwave or even the oven. The best way to heat a slice of frozen pizza is on the stove. The reheat time is super fast, and it keeps the crust nice and crispy while slowly melting the cheese and other toppings gradually back to a perfect temperature.

All you really need is a skillet, and a lid to cover your pizza in the pan. Check out the full instructions —it’s that quick and simple. You’ll never eat soggy microwaved pizza again.

Making dough from scratch can be overwhelming. In the video above, Chef Cozzolino lets his homemade dough sit for more than 24 hours before cooking his pizza. If you have less than 20 minutes to make handmade dough, you need to try out this recipe from The Slow Roasted Italian.

Ingredients:

-1 cup Greek yogurt

-1–1 ½ cups self-rising flour (If you can’t find self-rising dough, no worries. You can use 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour, 1 ½ tsp. baking powder, and ¾ tsp. of salt).

Directions:

1) Mix all the above in a large mixing bowl until it is all mixed up blended.

2) Once it is combined, take the dough out of the bowl and knead it on a floured surface for approximately 8-10 minutes. If it's sticky, add a little more flour into it.

3) Then form it into a pizza shape. Brush with olive oil, add toppings and put straight into a 450°F oven for 10–12 minutes.

Bon appetit!
