Have you ever wondered how it'd be like to cycle on water? Well, this is not an absurd idea at all. The hydro-cycle's invention had been done long ago. A hydro-cycle is a marine-based vehicle which resembles a bicycle more than usual marine automation as the submarine. A hydro-cycle's initial design, created in the late 19th century, differed from a shuttle ship's current design of which is quite popular. Those hydro-cycles move because of the surfboard which exerts buoyancy in water. Shuttle bikes are more like a boon for cyclists who don't want to stop moving even in case there are water bodies like rivers or lakes in their pathways, which can't be crossed otherwise.
Those bikes have a portable shuttle kit which transforms a normal bicycle to a water boat. The kit is really handy and can be carried easily. A shuttle bike's design was Roberto Siviero's brainchild, along with an engineering firm named SBK. The whole kit, with its parts, is exclusively manufactured in Venice, Italy with its canals could be an excellent testing ground. The kit consists of pontoons or floats that are airtight arrangements which are to be inflated with the help of a particular bicycle pedal which pumps air into the floats. The pontoons are yellow and are created of a combination of plastic and nylon, to ensure strength and durability. The floats get sealed automatically when it's inflated to the electro-mechanism. To arrange the aquatic bicycle, someone merely needs to attach the rudder to the front wheel for easy movement on the water. There's also a small flexible joint which makes the rudder move smoothly according to the surface (water/shore) without causing any damage to the boat.
The circular gears have a rotational movement that transfers the power generated with the help of a body roller. Those gears can control any change in the pedaling speed or the direction of the vehicle. When this roller attaches itself to the wheels, the pedaling gets changed into propulsion, which helps the vehicle to move forward. The propeller is a fan-like structure which generates and transfers power by converting the spinning of the wheel into a thrust, thereby pushing the boat with significant strength in a particular direction. This handy and essential device has a beginning price of approximately 1300 $. The numerous advantages of this kit are that it's portable and more affordable than several other aquatic vehicles or boats. That can be essentially attached to a bike and used to move on water.
This invention could very well be the tomorrow's necessity if people believed in its utility more.
