Tom Ward is among the most sophisticated street musicians you'll ever discover. His parents are originally from Britain, but they moved to Australia and settled in Tasmania where Ward was born in 1983.
Tom has loved music since he was very young, and had his parents' support to learn and get better. In 1997 he started his classical music studies at the St. Cecilia School of Music, with the violinist and guitar teacher Matthews Tyson. There Ward received two music Diplomas, and by 2001 he had received first place in many music competitions and even released his first CD, 'Tasmanian Sunrise.'
Besides his impressive guitar which looks extremely worn and broken, the fame and attention Tom enjoys comes from his incredible guitar skills. His father created his 'broken guitar' with holes before it was smashed on a flight to the United States seven years ago.
Tom’s skills have earned him popularity among street crowds in Australia as well as on social media. Tom is successful as a musician having performed internationally in Thailand, Italy, U.K., Germany, France, Japan, Australia and in China for Expo Shanghai. He has also been featured in the 2011 edition of Australia’s Got Talent and has shared the stage with famous artists such as the Buena Vista Social Club, Jason Mraz, and Tommy Emmanuel.
Tom's music can uplift and transform a very bad day into a great one. His commitment to his guitar is on a whole new level, frequently combining different kinds of Music and making it feel like he is playing a double bass, a Spanish acoustic, and a harp all at the same time!
