Recent wildfires across California have claimed 80 lives so far, making it the deadliest of the nation in at least a century. There are still approximately 700 people who are unaccounted for. The Camp Fire in Northern California has destroyed the town Paradise as well, turning it into a “toxic wasteland”. In it, though, Captain Ryan Coleman of the Fairview Valley Fire Department managed to find a survivor. He posted the video on his Facebook and wrote:
“Kitty rescue. She just chilled on my neck and shoulders as I’d walk around.”
He posted about his first shift in that area on November 10th, 2018, sending his love and prayers to all the people that lost their loved ones and the families that lost their homes. “Hoping for the safety of my crew and fellow firefighters. I’m excited to be here helping out, and I’m ready to get started doing what we do!”
