Love it or hate it, the everyday grind is an unavoidable part of life for most of us - especially New Yorkers. Danish photographer Peter Funch spent nearly ten years standing just near Grand Central Station photographing the morning commuters moving quickly by, and in the end when it was said and done he ended up capturing more than only tired employees on the way to work and iced coffees.
The impressive catalog of pictures that now make up Funch's latest book, 42nd and Vanderbilt, span from 2007 to 2016, and were captured between the tender hours of 8:30 to 9:30 AM. During the editing process, he realized that sticking to the same spot and same times daily had produced a fantastic effect; he ended up catching the same people two or three times, sometimes years apart.
