From romantic to sad moments, done in the comfort of closed doors, those are what artist Amanda Oleander focuses on. Her cute drawings bring out the little things that people do when they're at home, guards down and can now be themselves.

The artist draws inspiration from her personal experiences as well as her family and friends. She is enthralled by the little moments which are most often done unconsciously but impact significantly on whom we are. Therefore, she draws the moments that can’t be documented.

Drawing 86/100 of the drawing a day for 100 days challenge. This is part 2 of the previous drawing I created titled: I’ll Be There For You . . . . This is my thought process behind it: I was recently asked what’s one piece of advice I would give for someone in their relationship. I answered it in my most recent blog post but that question kind of stayed in my head for the last week or so. Before bed the other day I was thinking about a piece of advice my grandma gave me a long time ago on cultivating a beautiful and loving relationship. Her metaphor is with a rope. She said a good relationship is like the game ‘tug of war’ when one person pulls and needs more rope the other person gives up some rope and vice versa but once someone lets go it ruins the relationship just like the game. Sometimes your partner will need more “rope” more help or love or time etc. and you give more of yourself to help them with their needs. There will be other times when you need it from them. About a week ago I was feeling off and @joeyrudman did the laundry and dishes and ordered food for us. The week before he was sick and I took care of him and his needs. Most of the time we are both side by side enjoying life together and each doing our part in the relationship but sometimes we need to pick up the slack and do it with love and understanding. So in addition to my other piece of advice this would also be part of my answer. You always blow my mind with your interpretations and creativity. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . This is inspired by the situation that I think happens to all of us at one point in time. When you realize someone who seemed to be on the same “wavelength” as you reveals their true self by an action or conversation that at first seems to be out of character but then you find out they have been wearing a “mask” the whole time. I’ve learned being vulnerable and open is the key to a happy and successful life because by showing your true self to the world you keep yourself in tune with what aligns with you. I believe this goes for all aspects in life. The ‘Be true to yourself’ concept sounds cliche now because it’s been said over and over again but it’s been said so much for a reason. If you put up a facade you will attract the wrong things in your work life and personal life. My favorite illustration and poem related to this is one by Shel Silverstein. I’ll share it in my IG story but the poem goes like this: She had blue skin, And so did he. He kept it hid And so did she. Then he says “it’s going to leave a mark.” I then tell him “No it’s not! It’s a black head.” It usually doesn’t but this last time it really did, it got bigger and then turned into a scab and I felt sooooooooooo bad. 1. Because it left a mark and 2.
