Depression makes even the most basic tasks, such as brushing your hair in the morning, impossible. When a struggling 16-year-old girl went to an Iowa salon with tangled, matted locks, she told stylist Kayley Olsson to “just cut it all off.” However, Olsson worked a record-breaking two days and 13 hours to restore both the young woman's hair and her confidence.
20-year-old Olsson, that works at Capri Waterloo salon, posted before and after pictures of the stunning transformation on her Facebook page after completing the landmark makeover on August 8th, and the entire Internet was shaken. The post went viral, with over 75 thousand shares and almost 200 thousand likes. Most significantly, the young girl’s new ‘do was ready just in time for her back-to-school images!
On a more serious note, if you are concerned that somebody close to you might be experiencing depression or other mental health issues, their physical appearance might say even more than their words. Lack of personal hygiene and self-care is a severe symptom of chronic depression, and for women, this often includes hair care.
