We've all gone to great lengths to capture that perfect travel photo, but one grandma might have taken it too far. 24-year-old English teacher, Catherine Streng has recently shared with Twitter that her sweet grandma almost got washed out to sea in the Icelandic waters after the iceberg she was posing on got pulled away by a massive wave. To the internet world's delight, Streng the whole dramatic tale in a thread, complete with photos, making us all realize that perhaps you do not always need to flex so hard for the gram – you might drown.
Steng works in South Korea, but her family is based in Texas. She was alerted of her grandmother’s daring ice-capades by her dad, that sent a series of texts and photographs from the trip. Frequent travelers, Streng told Buzzfeed that the reason they were in Iceland was because her father’s mom wanted to experience “the nature and beautiful scenery” of the Nordic area – and experience it she did.
Streng said her grandma floated so far out to see that she required a formal rescue, and luckily, there was somebody around that could assist. The licensed boat captain and water rescuer Randy Lacount, from Florida, had witnessed the whole thing and jumped to her rescue.
