In 2018, Culturespaces introduced us to the Atelier des Lumières. Putting a technological twist on Gustav Klimt's glistening work, the luminous exhibition magically turned an old iron foundry in Paris into an amazing installation. The Atelier des Lumiéres is now back, transforming that same space into a Vincent van Gogh wonderland.
The Atelier des Lumières invites people to step inside the Post-Impressionist’s most celebrated canvases. The selection of luminous, larger-than-life pictures includes his autographed self-portraits as well as his series of Irises, and, his pièce de résistance, the sparkling Starry Night.
To take those pieces to new heights, artistic director Gianfranco Iannuzzi opted to outfit the space with 140 state-of-the-art laser video projectors. Music wafting from fifty speakers sets the mood of the space, culminating in an immersive “sensorial, musical, and aesthetic experience” for art lovers of any age.
Apart with highlighting the work of Van Gogh, the exhibition will showcase a short program focused on Japanese art as well. Both the Starry Night exhibition and its supplemental show titled Dreamed Japan: Images of the Floating World will be on view at the Atelier des Lumières until December 31, 2019.
