At her local shelter, an 89-year-old woman who loves dogs knitted 450 coats and blankets for pups there.
The news was shared on Instagram by Dogs Trust, a 127-year-old charity whose goal is to find homes for dogs throughout the United Kingdom, which wrote that an 89-year-old Maisie Green, knits blankets and coats for Dogs Trust Basildon.
Green has hand-knitted many sweaters and blankets for the dogs for years, and she says that she loves knitting and dogs; therefore, she combined them in such a way. It took her three days to knit a blanket and one day to knit a doggy coat, yet it kept her busy and allowed her to help the pups of the center.
The generous dog lover donates her knitted creations to the shelter three times per year. Her family drives her there and helps her unload every batch of sweaters and blankets, created for the adorable dogs she whole-heartedly loves.
She’s one of the many volunteers who regularly help the shelter, which is the biggest dog welfare charity in the United Kingdom. It has a network of 20 Rehoming Centres all over the United Kingdom (and now one in Ireland), and it cares for more than 16,000 stray, unwanted and abandoned dogs annually. They’ve got a non-destruction policy, and will never put a healthy dog to sleep.
