Parents, teachers and other people play a significant role in children's life, socialization, and development. A lot of what happens in our childhood can matter for a lifetime, so it’s crucial that everyone involved try their best to raise a mindful human being. However, it is easy to mess up; after all, no one is perfect. What matters is recognizing those mistakes and improving. Artist Damian Alexander recently created a comic pointing out one specific area he thinks everyone should pay more attention to. Boys adoring female role models.
And you could not find a better person for this job. Damian grew up in an artistic family, and he got a bachelors degree in Fine Art. He also experienced all of this first-hand. His family never seemed to care that much or take notice of it. And this is the problem. Damian believes that sexism, misogyny, and homophobia are a massive part of why society thinks a boy should not look up to women.
