Some desserts look too good to eat, and Malizzi Cakes recently crafted a wedding cake that was as stunning as it was delicious. Inspired by the bride’s love of peacocks, sisters Liz Malizzi Skokowski and Darlene Malizzi Tillman made a unique tiered cake which doubles as a work of food art. It features a peacock’s body as the cake topper as well as colorful plumage that trails down the dessert and continues onto the table via cupcakes decorated with edible feather toppers.
Everything on the cake was handmade by the two sisters. Once Skokowski and Tillman had the color palette prepared, they crafted all of the components. All feathers were airbrushed to give them extra texture.
The bakery, based in Pennsylvania, is a family operation. The two sisters design the beautiful cakes, but their mother, Lisa Malizzi, started the business. It grew from being something for friends and family into a business that’s been the center of many celebrations.
