You might recognize her as the author of the Harry Potter book series, but JK Rowling is also a philanthropist.
The children’s book curator has recently donated a large sum to fund multiple sclerosis (MS) research, the same debilitating condition that took her mother.
In total, the Scottish philanthropist donated a whopping £15.3 million ($18.8 million) to the University of Edinburgh.
With the funds, they can further development of the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic.
According to GoodNewsNetwork, the clinic was built in 2010 following a mighty donation from Rowling.
She named the section after her mom, Anne, who died from multiple sclerosis at the age of 45.
Apart from furthering neurodegenerative treatments and cures, the funds will be used to finance the construction of facilities of the clinic.
The donation will also be used to explore how healthcare workers can improve the lives of patients who suffer from similarly debilitating diseases.
