A parent with Down Syndrome is just as loving as any other parent. This is the lesson we can all learn after hearing a Syrian student’s tale about his father.
Sader Issa that studies dentistry in Syria, shared the story of how he was raised by his father, Jad, who has Down Syndrome. According to Jad’s son, his father showered him with love and did his best to make his son’s childhood the same as any child’s. Sader explained how his dad is selfless and a real pillar of the community.
Sader is not ashamed of his father; in fact, he is very proud of him because he helped turn him into the person that he is today. No one is saying that living with Down Syndrome is easy, but Sader and his dad Jad managed to create a loving relationship some would be envious of.
Father and son frequently go together to the former’s workplace at the mill near their home. Sader’s dad is viewed favorably in his community because people know he expresses his love for others without expecting anything in return.
Sader talked about his father and family after drawing attention to the fact that he’s partly bound by a contract he signed with a production company named The Rascals, limiting what he can talk about.
It’s not only parents with Down Syndrome who love their kids unconditionally. Researchers have studied parents who have kids with Down Syndrome and the conclusions are heartwarming. According to a study down in 2012, 99% of the 2,044 respondents that participated in the study said that they love their kids.
97% said that they were proud of them, and 79% said their outlook on life was more positive because of having them in their life. Only 5% of parents were embarrassed by their offspring, and 4% regretted having them. This means that the majority of parents with Down Syndrome are happy to be raising their children just the way they are.
