Pictures lit up on the sails of the Sydney Opera House were the way to thank the firefighters who have spent months battling catastrophic and deadly bushfires in Australia.
The pictures were a tribute not only to the firefighters and volunteers but also to the areas throughout the country being devastated by the bushfires, the high temperatures, and the smoke.
One of the pictures depicts a handwritten note reading, "thank you, firies." Another depicts volunteer firefighters hugging.

The Opera House has also announced a special outdoor performance gala to be held on March 16, 2020, to support bushfire relief efforts.
Since July 2019, 20 people lost their lives, including three firefighters.
Australian Red Cross bosses said that the response has been remarkable regarding its speed and reach.
State Director Poppy Brown, said that things started to snowball after the campaign was televised with the New Year's Eve fireworks in Sydney, and dramatic images of fires beamed across the world are what she believes have inspired people to help.

Its Disaster Relief and Recovery fund topped $44 million, with more money reserved for the next few years as communities rebuild.
