Many have associated Valentine's Day with delicious dinners with their partners, chocolates, flowers, and, of course, lots of romance. However, single people, it's sometimes challenging to deal with all the couples being so much in love, while they might feel lonely and need someone to share this special day.
Caring for all these lonely souls around the world, 29-year-old Seth Stewart has been spending the past eight years on a mission to ensure that local widows, single women, and the spouses of deployed service members in Spokane, Washington, aren't forgotten on Valentine's Day.
Stewart and his brothers wake up early every Valentine's Day to deliver red roses to about 400-500 women across the region. In 2020, they even aimed to deliver flowers to 700 women.
Stewart keeps a list of the women in his region who receive the deliveries annually, and in the lead-up to Valentine's Day, he asks followers of his Facebook page to nominate single women who may want a small pick-me-up in the form of a free rose.
While the 700-rose goal is a large increase, Stewart believes they can deliver many more roses in the coming years. Although he is relying on a GoFundMe page to help pay for this, he is willing to pay out of his own pocket to make such a small but meaningful impact on the lives of the women he's encountered.
