Very few people would decide to leave their home and comforts to move to another place only to help animals in need. Yet, since we live on this planet, it's our responsibility to protect the creatures who live here with us.
Fortunately, some people know this well and try their best to restore our faith in humanity. Such a person is Sam Trull, who decided to dedicate her life to saving baby sloths.
Trull left her home in the United States and moved to Costa Rica, where she began an organization to help rehabilitate these cute creatures who have lost their moms back into the wild.
The institute acts as an orphanage for baby sloths that can't learn primary survival skills after this loss.
Trull founded the organization after she rescued a sloth named Kermie, that had lost its mother and home due to human encroachment.
The woman also published a book about sloths "Slothlove."
The special "soft" release technique of this organization helps the sloths to gradually get acclimated to the jungle, before being sent off alone. The cage doors are left open so that baby sloths can roam until they reach full independence.
Unfortunately, sloths are often taken from their habitat to be shown in public as attractions for tourists to pet. This can even kill them, as it causes them a lot of stress. If you ever visit a country with the cute animals, be a responsible tourist, and never pay to pet or take a picture with a sloth.
