Artist Enrique Bernal (also known as Kike) has discovered a way to make his beautiful pencil sketches glow with life. He makes his drawings—varying from portraits to animals— by using mechanical pencils and pens. Recently, though, Bernal has added extra effects to his mesmerizing illustrations with amazing results.
After completing his pencil sketch, Bernal now uses the artist app Medibang Paint to add artificial lighting to his drawings. The digital “glow” imitates a fluorescent light source. The artist makes smart use of the placement of the glare and the color too. In some of his works, Bernal uses the technique to contour the features of a person’s face and body, as though a mysterious light was warming them. In others, Bernal utilizes digital manipulation more to add fantastical effects like shining butterflies and glowing tattoos.
