Have you seen the heartbreaking film La Vita è Bella (Life is Beautiful)? It tells the story of an amazing Jewish father who tried to protect his son from the horrors taking place in a Nazi camp by using his vivid imagination and pretending it's all just a game.
Apparently, such things happen in real life too. And, of course, that's much sadder but also powerful.
A Syrian father named Abdullah Al-Mohammad went recently viral for teaching his daughter to laugh at plane and bomb explosion sounds like a game to make her less afraid of frequent explosions in the war-torn province of Idlib.
Al-Mohammad was inspired to teach his three-year-old kid Salwa to laugh at sounds of bomb explosions after he had helped her overcome her fear of fireworks by explaining they were just used for fun.
Mr. Al-Mohammad and his daughter are now staying at a friend's house in the town of Sarmada in Idlib as they were forced to flee their home in Saraqib because of the ongoing Syrian civil war.
Approximately 700,000 people have fled towns and cities in Idlib since December following an offensive launched by Bashar al-Assad's regime, according to the UN.
Nevertheless, some families that fled their homes have found that there's no shelter available to them.
