Romantic relationship - Challenge Accepted!
The majority of us will have at least one significant relationship during our lifetime. Relationships can get complicated; that's why it makes sense that some so-called red flags shouldn't be ignored. Although the perfect couple or the ideal relationship doesn't exist, you can both work together to achieve the next best thing. A real relationship is about two imperfect people perfectly loving each other.
Let's have a look at 10 major red flags that, if you point them out in time, can save your relationship!
10 Signs that you need to reconsider your relationship
1. Trust out, Doubt in
Relationships are supposed to be full of trust, but suddenly you catch yourself doubting most of the things your partner says. And, as soon as you start questioning, you start dedicating all your time and energy playing Sherlock Holmes. Trying to find all the hidden signs behind their every action. This itself it's the sign that you are not getting the things that you need from a relationship. To say it simply, you are not that significant to your significant other. When you're in a healthy relationship, these things shouldn't be a concern.
2. Accusing all the exes
If your partner continually complains and blames all his/her exes, it's a sign that they are unwilling to face their mistakes that contributed to the deterioration of these previous relationships. It takes two people to have a successful relationship and two to destroy it. So keep in mind that if things don't work out with you, you'll be the one that they will blame.
3. You're coming second to everything
Yes, when it comes to a successful relationship compromising is everything, but maybe you have come to the point that your needs are only your partner's needs? There's a reason you're partners; both of you need to work to have a balanced relationship. Your needs are equally important, try to prioritize them and don't forget the most important person in your life: YOURSELF!
4. This bad feeling is never gone
Something in your guts continually tells you that something is not right. You can hide from everyone but yourself. When you reach the point that you are trying to hide from you, this is a serious indicator that something's off. Even though you might don't want to hear it from anyone, your heart and mind are there to make you realize that you need to put yourself first.
5. Constantly unavailable
Having time for yourself is the thing that you must never forget when you're in a relationship. On the other hand, avoiding your partner, intentionally or not, it's a sign that you are in danger of losing your, once upon a time, cherished bond. If that's your case, your relationship needs proper re-evaluation and a lot of work from both of you.
6. Absence of sleep
Remember those butterflies that kept you up at night in the beginning? Forget about them! We are talking about staying up all night, worrying, stressing, and staring at the ceiling, wondering what's wrong with your relationship. As you can assume, this isn' t a sign of a healthy and blooming relationship...
7. You are ashamed of introducing them to people
There is no need to explain why being ashamed of your partner is a red flag. When you are feeling insecure about their behavior in public or in front of your family and friends, your relationship is lacking something fundamental; admiration and respect.
8. Isolation
When was it the last time you met your friends? Your family? If you are struggling to remember, we have an issue! Before you rush to say that you weren't feeling "sociable" lately, take a moment to rethink. Maybe every time that you plan to meet them, your significant other decides to spend time with you or complains that you are neglecting them. Cutting off everyone else in your life the moment you are in a romantic relationship can be an early red flag for a potentially abusive and controlling relationship.
9. Everything is a competition
When it comes to relationships, balance is everything. A romantic relationship can not survive if instead of being partners, you are competitors. Relationships are not about competing, it' s about supporting and compromising with each other's needs. You are on the same team as your partner. It' s not a race with a winner and a loser. Both of you need to focus on helping your relationship move forward.
10. Manipulative aka Abusive Behaviour
One of the easiest to see, and perhaps the most terrifying indicators that something is wrong with your relationship. At the same time that you believe that you found the love of your life, you might fail to see that your partner is manipulating you. You need to be alert to understand the true colors of your significant other. Especially when they constantly question your love and ask for proofs of your commitment.
As stated in the beginning of this article relationships can be hard and difficult to maintain.
From time to time, it can get harder. But, the hard times can't be the rule and the good times the exception. No matter how much you want to, you can' t shut your eyes to all the negative signs, and this is the only way for you to save your relationship.
