There are now people in 186 countries experiencing infections of COVID-19 and a world total of about 300,000 people infected, and more than 10,500 deaths. Borders are shutting, countries are locked down, but it seems that now, more than ever, people from different countries and cultures are closer to each other. Yet, at the same time, pandemic continues to compel acts of solidarity between the countries that it is advancing...
In the act of solidarity with all the countries affected by the coronavirus, Brazil decided to send a message of solidarity and hope last Wednesday, using its famous landmark Christ the Redeemer.

Thousands of people in Brazil have been tested positive in coronavirus, and the government has closed visits to the famous statue, to avoid greater transmission of the disease. Although it is closed to the public, it doesn't mean that it is closed to hope. In the act of solidarity with the rest of the suffering countries, the nearly 100 foot tall statue of Christ that overlooks the city of Rio, which has declared states of emergency, was lit with flags of all the infected countries and the message "Pray together" written in different languages.
Rio de Janeiro's archbishop held a religious ceremony at the foot of the statue in support of those affected by coronavirus before the statue was lit up.
