Over the past few years, many different animal rights activists have been protesting against the fashion designer Louis Vuitton for using crocodile skins in its products. PETA and other similar organizations have exposed the cruel conditions at the crocodile farms at which the designer sources leather for a lot of its products. Back in 2017, PETA purchased a significant stake in the parent company, LVMH, that allowed them access to shareholder meetings where they could question executives about their business practices. After several years of pressure from activists, LVMH promised to implement new measures that would ensure a "responsible supply" of crocodile skins.
Nevertheless, PETA responded to the announcement pointing out to other fashion designers like Chanel, Vivienne Westwood, Victoria Beckham, and Diane von Furstenberg, who promised to stop turning "exotic animals into fashion accessories."

Some fashion accessories on the company's website can go for as much as £31,000.
LVMH also promised to ensure the animals are being treated with compassion, but they've been unclear about the specifics of how the process has changed.
The footage shows the results of a PETA investigation, which initially exposed what was happening in the production of Louis Vuitton fashion accessories. In the video, the animals have their necks cut open, and rods shoved down their throat while they're still alive. Then they are skinned while they're still bleeding and moving. Next, they're confined to barren enclosures and packed into concrete pits before their skin is cut and pulled off.
PETA and other animal rights organizations don't believe that the production methods employed by LVMH have changed since their promise to improve standards, and are still campaigning for them to stop using exotic animal skins altogether.
