These heart-warming pictures of little red foxes will melt your heart. They were shared on Reddit by an individual under the pseudonym Vechrotex and have since been gathering a whole lot of attention. It is easy to see why – these little guys are adorable.
Vechrotex says that the two baby fox cubs have been consistently visiting her Grandma in Illinois, running right up to the house, which is actually quite unusual behaviour for foxes as they tend to be quite timid. But it seems these guys perhaps just haven’t got old enough yet to understand a fear of humans.

That said the mother fox, known as a vixen, also seems to have no problem approaching the house and making her presence felt.
It is believed that the foxes are probably at least 5 to 6 weeks old as up until 4 weeks old they tend to remain in the den in which they were born. It is only as they get older that they begin to move around by themselves and will stray further and further from their mother’s side over time.

In an interview with Bored Panda Vechrotex told the story of her Grandma's interactions with the little visitors:
"Here in Illinois we get red foxes in forested areas, we see them a lot and it’s not that big of a deal … One day my grandma saw a baby red fox and took a picture of it. She shared the picture with me and I thought it was just so cute, I decided to post it. I’m glad I was able to make so many people happy! The mom comes by a lot more than the babies. She is always close when her babies are on the porch."

On reddit, others have shared funny stories of their interactions with visitor foxes. One wrote:
"One of our neighbors had a small pet door in their back door. A fox cub let itself in, ate all the cat’s food, and then fell asleep in the space between the refrigerator and the wall. The mama fox tried to get in to retrieve her cub but could not fit in the pet door or was afraid to attempt it. So the neighbor’s closed all the interior doors to the kitchen and left the backdoor open so mama and cub could be reunited."

We certainly think these foxes are absolutely wonderful. Be aware though that, if you have fox cubs in your garden to not disturb them when they are very young. Foxes are also very unfussy eaters and will eat just about anything, so there is absolutely nothing wrong with putting out scraps of cooked or uncooked meat for them, or preferably dog food, especially if you want them to stick around.
