Small home living is becoming more and more popular. In part this is due to huge house prices, the fear of getting a mortgage and then losing your job, and simply because in this crazy world the idea of simplicity is becoming more and more appealing. Not only that, but most tiny houses are really environmentally friendly!
Olive Nest Tiny Homes, with their Elsa model, not only allows people the chance to live in a tiny house, but also gives them the opportunity to take their home on the road. That’s right, the Elsa model is not only a tiny home, but it is also a trailer, meaning it can be attached to your vehicle and taken absolutely anywhere. Great news if you fancy a change of scenery every now and again.
The Elsa model, created in 2017, is 85 square foot and comes complete with greenhouse and porch, and the plush Scandinavian minimalist style has a really clean look that never the less retains a homely feel. It has a lounge area with high ceilings and enough space for comfy chairs. A kitchen / dining area with a skinny counter-top area that saves space while retaining usability (including a full sized cooker and refrigerator). It also has a second floor, which is where the bedroom lies. The cute little steps leading up serve as a fantastic secret storage area.
In effect, you get what it says on the tin, a fully functional home, only a lot smaller!
While it might feel a little small compared to what you are used to, you must remember that with the porch and outside greenhouse, you have somewhere to lounge outside all summer. Hey, and if it ain’t warm where you are you can always pick up and leave to sunnier climes. You can even use the greenhouse to grow your own fruit and vegetables all year round.
While it is clearly the case that small home living isn’t for everyone, especially those of us who have a lot of ‘stuff’, it does suit a lot of people who are looking for extra freedom from the burdens of mortgages and financial commitments. Just be careful, if you are living with someone, make sure that you really get along well - after all, you can’t really sulk in different rooms!
