1. "Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter."
Most of us worry about getting older, but we really shouldn’t. As long as keep ourselves fit and healthy all the things that bring us joy today can still be done going forward. We also shouldn’t worry about what others think we should be doing at a certain age. We all go at our own pace, and who cares what other people think we should be doing anyway? We can only live our own life and we should live it on our own terms!
2. "Humour is mankind's greatest blessing. Against the assault of laughter, nothing can stand."
You might not realise it, but we can choose much of our feelings and emotions, as well as how we respond to different situations. Even in the darkest times and places we can choose to have humour and happiness. Many people living lives in situations we would think are great are actually deeply sad, and many people living really rough existences can still find light in the darkness. Choose how you feel and you can overcome anything!
3. "Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured."
When we fill our lives with anger, or get frustrated at things we can’t change, we are eroding not only our present but also our future. This is because when we are angry we can’t change anything in a positive manner. Let go of your anger, forgive easily, and your soul will thank you. Not only does anger erode our mental wellbeing but long-term it can also have serious consequences for our physical health.
4. "Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first."
Whether we like it or not we will only get out of life what we put into it. If we work hard and show determination you will, eventually, reap better rewards than if you sit back and just expect good things to come your way. Often life is unfair, and some have much more advantages than others, but at the end of the day we must play the ball where it lands, and therefore your best option is to take the best shot you can.
5. "A person with a new idea is a crank until the idea succeeds."
Don’t listen to the haters. Almost everything new sounds like a crazy idea until it is actually created. Many would have laughed at the ideas that have changed our world for the better. Often this is because people find it much easier to criticise than to encourage, and criticising gives them a sense of power and strength in a world where they feel weak. That doesn’t mean every idea is a good one, but it is better to have 100 ideas and have 1 succeed and 99 fail, than it is to have zero ideas and none-succeed.
What do you think?
