33 year-old Kayden Coleman, a transgender man from New York, is expecting his second child this year. He gave birth to a previous child back in 2014 when he was in the middle of the gender reassignment process. His daughter, Azaelia, is now 6.
While Kayden has undergone partial reassignment surgery, including having a mastectomy and taking hormones, he has not had genital surgery, meaning he can still become pregnant and have children. The father of the child is his 29 year-old boyfriend, Dominique.
The news, like the news of Kayden's first pregnancy, has brought a lot of hatred. Particularly online. With some even calling Kayden a 'monster'. However, he says that the opinions of others have never affected him in a negative way:
"When Azaelia was born there were a lot of people who said they felt sorry for her and that she would grow up and be confused. They said that she should be taken away and called me a monster. But it's important for people to understand that we have full autonomy over our bodies and we should do with it as we please. I can't wait to meet my second baby and Azaelia is so excited about having a little brother or sister."

Kayden says that he never felt right growing up as a girl and that age 20 he decided to pursue gender reassignment but that he does not want to change his private area.
"I never wanted to wear a bra and I knew that even if I didn't transition I would have had a reduction. But I never had bottom surgery because it's expensive, there are often a lot of complications with it and it can numb things sexually … I'm lucky enough to have a working uterus and reproductive system that allows me to carry a child and create life so why should I have to reject that part of me just because I'm trans?"

He even says that there are many things that he enjoys about being pregnant, other than bringing a new life into the world, including making his beard thicker:
"I do enjoy parts of being pregnant like the fact it makes my beard thicker. But I don't get the same pregnancy privileges because it is not obvious that I'm carrying a child, people just assume it's a beer belly, so people don't give up their seat for me or hold doors open."

While the circumstances of their life may not be very common, it looks as though they did a fine job of raising their first daughter and can only hope both children grow up in a happy, loving home.
