Little Francesca has Down Syndrome, yet she is now a child model taking part in shows and fashion shoots across the country, winning hearts one smile at a time.
Last year she was spotted taking the stage with supermodel Madeline Stuart, who is the world’s first supermodel with the condition. She has also won contests across the world, as far afield as Malta.
Francesca also loves playing, going to the beach and doing ballet lessons. She does however, also love all the great places she gets to go and the people she gets to meet while taking part in her modelling.
Her mother revealed in an interview that Francesca loves what she does and that it brings her true joy. She also hopes that Francesca being in the public eye will encourage other people with Down Syndrome or other disabilities to feel pride in themselves and their abilities, while reducing stigma and prejudice.
It is true that every child is special and beautiful in their own way, and little Francesca is showing us that there is nothing stopping people who were born slightly differently.
The number of people with Down Syndrome has declined rapidly in the last 20 years as a result of pre-natal testing. It can cause mild to moderate learning difficulties, particular facial characteristics and is the result of an extra-chromosome. Around 4.5 million people worldwide have the condition.
