With lockdown, many of us have had a lot more time on our hands. It has stopped us from seeing friends and family and enjoying our lives like we used to. As a result, people are becoming more inventive with their time and becoming more creative than ever.
While shielding has been difficult for us all, it has perhaps been most difficult on the elderly who have had the added burden of not only being distanced from their families, but also knowing that they are particularly vulnerable to CoVid-19 itself.
To brighten up, in one care home in England, Robert Speker, who is in charge of entertainment, came up with a brilliant project that has now been picked up by the media across the world. At the Sydmar Lodge Care in Edgware, he worked with residents to recreate famous album covers, and the results are absolutely amazing!
The collection includes famous covers of David Bowie, Adele and The Clash.
Speker told the Independent newspaper:
"As this situation is on-going it could be months before the situation changes for them and the need to keep them happy, entertained, and full of spirit has never been more crucial. It's been my job and privilege."
The collection alongside a GoFund me page has raised money for future projects and the collection may be turned into a charity calendar to raise more funds for good causes.
The works are truly brilliant and a testament to ingenuity in the face of adversity. We love them and we are sure you will too!
