Court documents unsealed by a New York City judge have revealed that Jeffrey Epstein had a secret British girlfriend named Shelley Anne Lewis.
Lewis owns a children's book publishing company and has authored books herself. She also describes herself as a 'spiritual entrepreneur'. She is not suspected of being involved in any of Epstein's crimes but did visit the Epstein island on a number of occasions and is now the source of much media interest.
Since the news broke she has remained silent and hidden all of her social media profiles, refusing to respond to questions from journalists eager to know the details of their former relationship. The couple apparently began dating in 1999 when Epstein was 46 and Lewis was 22 and remained friends afterwards.
Lewis's books have been frequently recommended by celebrities such as JK Rowling and Laura Bush.
The documents also reveal that Ghislaine Maxwell encouraged Epstein and Lewis to go public regarding their former relationship in order to defer focus from herself and the child-sex crimes of Epstein. In an email revealed by Daily Mail, Maxwell said:
"I would appreciate it if Shelley would come out and say she was your g' friend – I think she was from end [19]99 to 2002."
Maxwell is currently awaiting trial on charges that she ran a sex-trafficking ring with Epstein and was even actively involved in the sexual assaults of minors. Some victims have alleged that she ran a pyramid type scheme bringing more and more victims to the disgraced billionaire.
Epstein died in a prison in New York in 2019 of an apparent suicide before he could face trial. However, many have suspected that he was murdered to stop him speaking out about the rich and powerful individuals also involved in the heinous crimes. Allegations that people like Trump, the Clintons and Prince Andrew were involved with Epstein have long circulated.
Others have expressed fears that Maxwell may be killed before she can make it to trial in order to stop her becoming a cooperating witness against the powerful public figures involved.
