A 6-year-old girl and her mother found a facemask in the girl's chicken nuggets meal while dining at McDonald's.
Maddie Arber and her 6-year-old daughter were eating at a McDonald's in Aldershot, Hampshire, England, on Tuesday when the disgusting find was made.
Ms. Arber had bought her daughter a Happy Meal comprised of chicken nuggets, fries and a drink. When they began eating the meal her daughter began to choke.
Ms. Arber recounted the story to the BBC. She said:
"I had to put my finger in her mouth to make her sick and it came up all speckled with blue. I couldn't work out what it was but I looked at the box of nuggets and could see something blue sticking out of another one. It was a mask, it was absolutely baked into it, it had gone like chewing gum. It was disgusting. If I hadn't been in the room I just don't know what could have happened."
When Ms. Arber confronted the manager of the store, she was told that the chicken nuggets were not made on site and they were made off premises and then delivered.
McDonald's responded to the incident. In a statement they said:
"As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we opened a full investigation with the relevant supplier, and have taken action to ensure any product from this batch is removed from restaurants. We would like to offer a full apology to the customer in question and understand they are currently in conversation with our customer services team."
The mother and the daughter say they have been put off eating at McDonald's for life following the incident and has warned others to be careful.
