Kim Kardashian has announced that she has donated $1 million to the Armenian relief fund, set up for those Armenians affected by the ongoing conflict in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, known as Artsakh by Armenians.
The conflict is being fought between the Azerbaijani state in which Artsakh lies, and ethnic Armenians who wish to establish their own state or bring the Artsakh region into full unity with Armenia. Armenians have long declared that they are subject to discrimination at the hands of Azerbaijani forces. A 6-year conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan was fought over the region in the 1990s, leading to thousands of deaths.
The money donated will go to providing food, shelter and medical supplies for the Armenians affected.
Kim Kardashian, who is of Armenian origin, said in an online post:
"In Support of Armenia and Artsakh. I'm so honored to be part of today's global effort to support the @armeniafund. I've been speaking out about the current situation in Armenia and Artsakh and having conversations with so many others to bring further awareness to the crisis that we cannot allow to advance. My thoughts and prayers are with the brave men, women and children. I want everyone to remember that despite the distance that separates us, we are not limited by borders and we are one global Armenian nation together. The @armeniafund is directly helping those that have been impacted during this critical time with humanitarian aid through food, shelter, and medical care. I will be donating $1M to assist their efforts on the ground and invite you to join me. Whether you are helping with just raising awareness and posting on social media or donating just $1, every bit helps. Let's make this our most successful fundraiser ever. Thank you so much."

Her sister Khloe Kardashian also made a post in which she encouraged others to donate just $1 to the Armenian Relief Fund, stating that such actions would go a long to helping those most in need.

It is feared that if Armenian forces are to leave the Artsakh region, then the ethnic Armenian civilians will be subjected to an ethnic genocide at the hands of Azerbaijan and the Jihadi fighters shipped to the region by Turkey.
