During the global lockdown, our news feeds were full of images from around the world of wild animals entering city centres and public parks. Wild creatures that had never been able to walk freely in those areas before were now frolicking in front of department stores and residential homes for the first time. But it isn't just wild animals that are making the most of out of the lockdown. One group of penguins that usually live at Chicago's Shedd Aquarium, recently got to experience a day out at the Chicago Bears sports stadium.
The baseball team that play at 'Soldier Field' hosted the amphibious birds who had a wonderful time exploring the unique surroundings. They got to march through the stands, play on the grass and even explore the dressing rooms over the course of a few hours. Penguins are highly curious creatures and were thrilled to experience the new sights, sounds and smells.
In a tweet, the aquarium stated:
"Just in time for the height of fall football season, Da Penguins visited our neighbour."
They're waddling down the field, and...goooalll! ⚽🐧🏈

Just in time for the height of fall football season, Da Penguins visited our neighbor and the home of Da @ChicagoBears and @ChicagoFire, @SoldierField! pic.twitter.com/SRtyTYm3nk
The aquarium later told reporters:
"During the visit, the birds experienced several new sounds, smells and sensations, like the grass under their feet, as they waddled across the field, which was set up for a Chicago Fire soccer match. Variety like this is important for the welfare of the birds, ensuring that just like in the wild, no two days are ever the same."
This isn't the first trip the little group of friends has made as they have also recently visited the Chicago Museum of Art and the city's Field Museum. The penguins are Magellanic penguins and are native to South America, notably Chile, Argentina, and the Falkland Islands. Not only are they curious, but they are also monogamous and pair up for life.
