It has been alleged that Turkey is planning to send mercenaries and Jihadi fighters to the disputed region of Kashmir in order to fight against India. The report came from the ANF news agency and quoted a Syrian war-lord who fought on the behalf of the Turkish state during the Syrian civil-war.
Abu Emsha, who is the leader of the Suleyman Shah Brigades terrorist group, apparently told his subordinates that Turkey was seeking fighters to go and back up Pakistani forces and Islamic militants in the Kashmir region. He also said that those that chose to go to Kashmir and fight would receive monthly payments of as much as $2000, as well as state-of-the-art weaponry.
Turkey, under the leadership of Recep Erdogan, has sought over the last decade to greatly increase its influence over the Middle-East and the wider-world. His leadership has also moved Turkey away from its traditional secularism and pushed an Islamist agenda that has included backing Islamic extremist groups in a variety of different countries and conflicts, of which Kashmir would just be the latest.
Turkey has in recent years backed fighters with weaponry and money in Libya, Syria and Azerbaijan. This includes the notorious Hamza brigade, who are accused of carrying out mass-rapes, mass-killings, and war-crimes in all three arenas of conflict. All of the groups Turkey has backed have included fighters from a whole range of nations, but all have strong Islamist backgrounds.
Over the course of the last few months, Turkey has prominently supported Azerbaijan in the fight over Artsakh, an area inhabited by mostly Christian ethnic Armenians. This support has included a huge amount of military equipment, including drones, and the arrival of Jihadi fighters. One of these captured Jihadi fighters later revealed that Turkey would pay them a few hundred dollars for every Armenian Christian that they could behead. Recent videos have also shown these Turkish backed fighters cutting the throats of captured Armenians and shooting both young and elderly Armenian civilians.
The region of Kashmir, that borders the North-West of India and the North-East of Pakistan, has long been fought over and had its ownership disputed. Several wars have also been fought between the two-countries over the region, both of whom are armed with nuclear weapons. Many Muslims living in the Indian controlled portion of Kashmir wish to secede and join Islamic Pakistan. As a result, many have launched Islamic inspired terrorist attacks against Indian security forces and Hindu civilians, leading to a huge number of deaths. The fact that Turkey will push even more advanced weaponry and money into the hands of these Islamic militants should be a worry not only for India but also the rest of the world.
Turkey has also recently been pushing for Pakistan, Bangladesh and other Muslim majority countries to support Turkey’s illegal occupation of Northern Cyprus, a state that is not recognised by any country in the world, with the exception of Turkey itself.
