A man and a woman have been charged with the sexual and physical assault of a child in Florida after she told a caregiver what she had experienced. Argelio Pupo, a 32-year-old firefighter, is alleged to have brutally raped the young girl while his 27-year-old partner, Morgan Keene, looked on. The rape was so brutal that the young girl was left with severe injuries, which the couple then sewed themselves.
In the affidavit released by police, the young victim said that the couple were trying to teach her how to have a baby. Both Keene and Pupo deny the charges laid against them, but Keene has now claimed that Pupo held her in a violent relationship where she too was sexually assaulted and repeatedly beaten.
"The victim stated [Keene] was present when this incident occurred and assisted in cleaning up the blood before ultimately telling the victim to go shower and go to bed. The victim stated the next day that [Keene] took her to Target and bought a sewing kit… The victim mentioned that they were trying to teach her how to have a baby. Upon further investigation, it was reported that not only was Keene in the bedroom while Pupo raped the girl, she also helped clean up the blood."

It is believed that Keene stitched the child's injury as she was in contact with a friend who was an obstetrics nurse who she asked for medical tools and advice. The nurse later told police that she thought the injury related to Keene herself and said that Keene sent a message to her saying 'Nope lololol' when she asked if Keene had used any pain-killers or anaesthetic ointment while repairing the injury.
While the police investigation was ongoing, Keene claimed that Pupo had been mentally and physically abusive to her and that she wanted to get away from him. She also claimed that the firefighter once gave her a black eye and had hit her with a bag of ice. He is also said to have kicked her in the ribs while she was pregnant. The police report noted this, stating:
"Morgan described that her husband has put her in emotional fear and distress of her life."
Keene has three children of her own.

The Fire Department Pupo works for released a statement addressing the allegations, saying:
"Argelio Pupo has been relieved of his position and is on administrative leave without pay from the Kissimmee Fire Department pending an administrative review of his case and criminal charges. Unfortunately, because we're still looking into his case we won't be able to provide much more on his status at this time."
The young victim has now been taken into protective custody. If convicted, both perpetrators can expect to receive extremely long prison sentences.
