Convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's huge $18.5 million mansion has been destroyed by the new owner.
Developer Todd Michael Glaser purchased Epstein's former pad last month which sits in Mar-A-Lago Florida. He immediately brought in a demolition crew to pull down the mansion where Epstein once abused hundreds of girls and young women.
Lawrence Moens, a Palm Beach real estate broker who represents Glaser, said:
"I only got involved in the sale of Jeffrey Epstein's residence to ensure it would be wiped off the map of Palm Beach."
Epstein had owned the house since 1990 and it had been one of his main living quarters in the 2 decades before he was eventually arrested on sex-trafficking charges. Epstein had previously been convicted of soliciting an underage prostitute in 2008.
Brad Edwards, a Fort Lauderdale attorney, said of the demolition job:
"I think that the symbolic power of destroying the house of horrors cannot be overstated. I can imagine there is going to be some amount of relief that the nightmare of what went on in the house [has] been buried to some degree."
The home had 9 bedrooms and spanned over 14,000 sq feet. It lies just 1 mile away from the home of former President Donald Trump.
Jeffrey Epstein died in prison while he was awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. It is claimed that he over the course of many decades, he hired and abused hundreds of vulnerable women as part of a huge sex trafficking ring that was organised by himself and his partner Ghislaine Maxwell.
Maxwell is currently in prison in New York awaiting trial for her part in the sex trafficking ring, which the prosecution say was organised like a pyramid scheme, with abused women bringing in even more victims.
Despite authorities saying that Jeffrey Epstein killed himself, many others believe that he could have been intentionally murdered by other high-profile and powerful figures who were involved in the abuse. Prince Andrew, the Queen of Britain's son, was a close associate of Maxwell. He has since stopped all royal duties after being pictured with an underage girl who says she was abused by Epstein and the prince.
