Photographs of a number of commercial billboard signs in the US state of Virginia have gone viral after two businesses, Bridge Kaldro Music and Super Shoes, began a hilarious 'sign war'.
It all started when music store Bridge Kaldro Music put up a sign to the neighbouring shoe store Super Shoes saying:
"Hey Super Shoes! Wanna start a sign war?"
Soon Super Shoes had replied, posting:
"Hey Bridge Kaldro! Our shoe strings are stronger than your guitar string."
It was then the battle commenced.
With Bridge Kaldro stating on their sign:
"Your shoestring never got anyone a date."
And Super Shoes hitting back with:
"Keep your play dates. We specialize in solemates."
After local radio station COOL 106.3FM posted the photographs of the 'sign war' the whole thing went viral with over 400,000 shares being seen by millions of people.
It was then that other local businesses entered the arena of battle. Kabuki Japanese Steakhouse was one of the first, hitting out with:
"You got to b-sharp to make good shoe-shi and we won't string you along."
Here is just a selection of the attacks of the Virginia sign war:

It is hoped that the banter between stores will drum up some extra customers at a time when businesses in Virginia, just like all over the country, are suffering due to the ongoing pandemic.
