Greta Thunberg, the teenage climate change activist, has stated that she wishes to change how food is produced in order to save the planet.
She says that the way food is produced is harmful in three different ways. Firstly, it produces a large amount of carbon and methane emissions, which contribute to global warming. Secondly, the farming industry is linked to disease outbreaks, and thirdly, because meat production and dairy production causes a huge amount of harm to animals.
The Swede posted a video to Twitter, marking the International Day of Biological Diversity, in which she explained her new project. She said:
"Our relationship with nature is broken. But relationships can change."
She added:
"The climate crisis, ecological crisis, they are all linked."
”Our relationship with nature is broken. But relationships can change. When we protect nature - we are nature protecting itself.”

It is claimed that moving to a meat-free world would save 8 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide a year being put into the atmosphere. It is also suggested by the World Health Organisation that 60% of the diseases that have emerged since 1990 have come from animals.
At present, multiple firms are working towards producing farming-free meat, which involves the creation of meat from stem cells. In effect, the tissue eaten is real but does not come from a live animal.
Thunberg became famous when she started the Strike for Climate movement in which she refused to attend school every Friday in order to bring attention to the climate crisis. This later resulted in a mass movement that involved millions of school children from across the world.
Thunberg has also received criticism, including from former US President Donald Trump, who mocked her views. Much of abuse has been directed at Thunberg online.
